What a day of celebration I’ve had! I drove to the Picnic Ground for an Australia Day BBQ with my new friend Captain Australia. (Every day is Australia Day for Captain Australia).
I brought the footy and the cricket set and Captain Australia brought the sausages, lamingtons and pavlova. We were all set to have a great day until we realised neither of us had anything to light the BBQ with!
On the other side of the picnic ground we noticed a bright red and yellow dragon decorating a pavilion with beautiful red lanterns. His name was Sizzle the Chinese Dragon. He was celebrating the 2012 Chinese New Year. Seeing that dragons breathe fire we asked if he could light out BBQ for us. He was more than happy help out and we gladly shared the sausages with him.

Today I thought I might take a drive to the famous Dunes to try out some sand surfing.
The Dunes are one of the hottest and driest parts of the Beanie Island and the van didn’t like the heat. The engine conked out after driving over the third sand dune. I rang the mechanic to ask for help and he said he would be about an hour.
While I was waiting in the hot van I though that my eyes were starting to play tricks on me. In the distance I noticed a row of strange looking trees. I decided to walk over and take a closer look. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Hanging from the branches were delicious orange ice blocks. I pulled one off and quickly ate it. It was so refreshing I ended up eating five of them. Then all of a sudden a Shimmering fairy appeared above the trees. Her name was Savannah the Summer Fairy. She had arrived to water the ice block trees.
“Do you need any help? “ She asked. “Not anymore.” I said “I’m just going to wait under the shade of these trees while until the mechanic arrives,” And that’s exactly what I did. It was a delightful way to spend the afternoon. Lying under an ice block tree catching the drips of orange juice in your mouth!

Just arrived in the Bay O’Beanie and I can’t think of a better place to see in the New Year. There’s going to be a huge fireworks display at midnight over the bay. Before that I’m going to take the van to the Bay O’Beanie Drive-in to see the latest summer blockbuster “Happy Paws” about a Beanie Kid who lives in the Antarctic. It should be really COOL!
I met a really sweet girl at the mini golf course today named Lauren the Summer Holiday Bear. She’s already seen “Happy Paws” three times and highly recommends it. Lauren spends every day of summer at the Bay O’Beanie and knows all the fun things to do. Lauren says the best ice cream is made in the Bay O’Beanie at the ‘Frozen Tongue Ice Cream Parlor’. My favorite flavour is ‘Hokey Pokey’. What’s yours? Lauren has even invited me to watch the fireworks with her and count down the New Year on a sailing boat in the bay.
I’ll make sure I send you some photos. I’d love to know what you’ll be doing for New Years Eve. Let me know!
