Chapter 2:

Dear Alex,

I have decided to tell you the truth. I don’t love you. You are an appalling waste of space, you pathetic selfish idiot. If you weren’t born, my husband would still be alive and would still love me! It’s all your fault!

You were an accident. If we hadn’t gotten drunk that night, you wouldn’t be born and I would still be happy! And so would my husband!

You may be asking why I put up with you, then. The truth was this. All single parents get a government-stipulated cheque, to cover living expenses, of around $60,000 per year. Except those stop when the child turns fourteen years old. I am sure that even an idiot like yourself can piece that together.

You wonder why I never talked to you, aside from when I needed to? Because you remind me of the fact that if you didn’t exist, then I would still have him alive.

Congratulations. You have finally discovered the truth. And you didn’t even think twice about anything that ever happened. I hope that you realise that I never loved you now. And I never have. And never will.

I thank you for setting me up for the rest of my life, however. And all it took was 14 years of taking care of a little brat.

After reading it, I chuckled bitterly to myself. Who would have thought it?

My mum, who I thought had loved me, had just said that she didn’t.

Not even face-to-face. She didn’t even have the courtesy to do that. No, she had to write it in a letter.

It goes to show you that life is designed to ruin everything you have.

And at school, they have the indecency to say “worship God, and good things will happen”. And "do good things and good things will happen to you". If there was a loving God up there, then I would have loving parents, I wouldn’t be bullied and my life would be normal!

Why do I even bother doing anything?

Welcome to my life. You should probably leave, though, before it is ruined again.
