Alexis is nothing like her classmates. Bubbly, unique, quirky, uh, let's make it easier. She has mind control. She can lift things, move things, open things, shut things, turn things off, turn things on and read minds, all by doing nothing, but concentrating hard with thought. So how can she cope at a new school, with a new Dad and new sister? Will she?
Moving.
30th June 2008Today, for the 7th time in 3 years, I'm moving to a new state. New state, new town, new home, new school, new family and new friends. There are three things that made my Mum decide to leave- She met a man on the internet who has a daughter named Chloe. My parents are divorced so obviously she's looking for someone new. Also, we move often because of me. I have mind control, so I can't make friends easily..

We've just loaded our belongings into the boot. Now it's a long trip to to Sydney. Yep, that's where we're heading. Melbourne to Sydney- quite a big trip in the car. We hopped in the huge four wheel drive, and I took my iPhone out. I was talking to my bestie, the first good friend I'd ever had. Her name was Siara, she, too, wasn't normal. If, being normal doesn't include having 2 and a half fingers. Besides, 2 and a half fingers or not, she was a truly inspirational girl.
We were on msn, on the internet. Having a chat. I wrote our conversation down, I never wanted to forget the words of wisdom she left me with.
Hey.
Hi Alexis!
I don't want to go, Siara. I really don't. There's nowhere I can enjoy life, let's face it. But when I'm with you I have true happiness, and I can't have that taken away. This is all too much. And, to make it worse, it's my birthday next week.
Don't worry, Alexis. You're gonna be fine. Don't worry about your mind control powers, it's a gift. You know why people tease you? Because you're different, because you're special. You know that you don't have to fit into their categories, because that's their standards, and they're low. The people who label are the ones who're uncool.
Thanks Siara, but nothing can change me. Even my name is stupid!

Now, I got to go, Mum says I should stop playing on my phone. Make sure we keep in contact. Call me when you get there! xThose were the last words I shared with Siara that day. The last words I could keep forever and cherish.
1st July 2008At 9:46 am I'm taking my first step in Sydney. Strange! This place is packed, quite tight, but I'm sure I could change that.. Just as I wrote that, my Mum snatched my diary and gave me the stare. The stare is when, I decide, I can use my powers to my advantage. But Mum stares at me, saying 'No!' in her mind, which, I can hear, because I have a 'majestic mind' as my Mum calls it.

'Here it is' Mum said walking me to THE most tiniest house, EVER!
'This is it?' I asked her.
'Yep. Nice, isn't it?'
I just muttered 'More like shabby.'
'What did you say? I'll take that stupid diary of you Alexis!'
'Yes, Mum.'
We were walking inside just as the door fell off the wall. Oh, did I mention I'm making the peen write for me? Hahaha, my hands are tired! So anyway, we walked in and the door fell off, revealing a bunch of termites. '.. That's not a problem.' Mum tried to make an excuse. I was almost about to burst into tears. So, she's telling me, we came all this way, LEAVING my friend behind, for a bug infested house? Ugh.
'Okay, then Al. I must admit, they said this was a good house. I'm going to get a refund, you'll stay inside now!'
'Yes, Mum.'
I decided, this house wasn't too bad after all, I mean, if it were fixed. I went into the back yard, and found a paint can. It was white, like the wooden walls were supposed to be. Spo I started painting outside. I shut my eyes and thought, really hard. The paint can and brush lifted into the air and started painting. That was easy. I ran over to the shed, and went in. 5 more paint cans! I set 2 up at the shed, 2 at the small garage and another one at the house, this time, inside. The paint cans all worked like teams. Now I needed to repair the door. I looked all through the house, and found a hammer and some nails. Once again, I thought hard and the hammer came to life. I went into the front yard, and got the mower going. I also fixed the fence with some colourful new paint. Everything was going great until my new neighbour went outside and saw me! I hid in the house, quietly tidying things up in there. I put knives, forks and spoons in the sink to be washed, opened the curtains, and chucked out old things.
In an hours time, the mower and paint cans had stopped- they were finished! I sent all them paint cans out the front into the bin. Perfect! The house looked magnificent- all shiny and new! Then, my Mum, her lawyer and the real estate agent arrived. I stood at the front of the newly mown, freshly painted, recently fixed house. My Mum gasped. 'Al!' 'Did you do this?' I nodded and she told the men to go. 'That's amazing! Let me in!' My Mum cried.
I showed her everything, I even had new clean tiles! [somebody across the road had a garage sale] 'Perfect! Duncan and Chloe would love to live here.' Mum said calling Duncan on her phone.
'Wait, what?'
'He's living with us, he doesn't have the money.'
'Mum, are you serious? I just did all that to end up having a bunch of people coming here to get money out of us?'
'This is your second warning, next smart comment and you're diary's going away!'
'Yep.'
I walked to my room, with had two beds in it. GREAT! That means Chloe will SHARE with ME! I lay down and sobbed. Can this day get any worse?
2nd July 2008Oh.No. Today Duncan and Chloe are coming. GREAT.
'Get out of bed! It's 11 am! You need to get dressed, they'll arrive any minute!'
'Yep, yep..' I forced the blanket of me, and flew to the kitchen. Naaaaaah, I can't fly. I lay on the ground and crawled to the kitchen.
DING DONG
'Get off the ground or you will be grounded for a week!' After Mumb yelling at me, I stood up and walked lazily to the door. I was wearing my Duck pyjama pants and a bat pj top. The moment of reveal, and here they are.
'Duncy!' My Mum hugged 'Duncy'. 'Chlo!' My Mum hugged 'Chlo' 'Come in!' My Mum smiled like a geek.
'Hi, Alex isn't it?'
'Hahaha. It's Alexis.'
'Oh. Sorry Alexis.' She blushed and smiled at me innocently.
'Meh. Yeh.' I muttered walking to my room. She followed with her suitcase.
'Is this my room?'
'YOUR ROOM!' I yelled.
'Please keep it down, Al.' My Mum said in a soothing voice.
'It's our room.'
'Ooh! Wow! I'm going to have the bed next to the window!'
'That's my bed!' Boy, I was getting grumpy then!
'Please please please can I have it?' Again, she used the innocent girl face.
'Fine.' I took all my stuff and put them on my new side. I guess this is a better spot now, because it's behind a wall, and when you first walk in you can't see it. So, that's good. Now I can use my mind control.
My Mum walked in and saw Chloe putting all her labelled books, boxes, pencil cases etc. into the shelves next to her bed. 'Well done Chloe.'
'Thank you Miss.' Chloe smiled. Ugh, that goody two shoes is getting on my nerves! '
Alexis? ALEXIS! Put some clothes on!' My Mum yelled strutting out the door.
'Fine!' I slammed th door shut with my mind control, oops!
'Hey, you're Mum didn't close that did she?'
'Uh, yeah, um, well, ah, yes! She did!'
'Okay?' Chloe said, continuing in her little world of perfection.
That was close. She almost discovered my secret! Well,no, actually, she didn't. She almost caught me in the act, and I almost told her! Life around here is going to be getting strange now..
3rd July 2008'Wake up Alexis!' Chloe woke me up. She ran into the kitchen, which gave me timee to use my powers to get changed, do my hair and my teeth. Done! I felt proud as I walked out to see her... ready? READY? I was supposed to be the perfect one today! Oh well.
Duncan was sitting at the table thinking, he looked like he was in a daydream. I sat a metre away, on the couch. I listened to him think, and he told himself;
Today's the day! She's the one! I'm going to propose to her, and we'll be married in no more than 3 weeks!3 WEEKS! Nuh-uh!
Hmm.. That Alexis seems to be looking at me, maybe admiring my beauty. Hahaha! No, I think she wants to know me better, I mean, her Dad left her, what can you expect from a girl her age? Anyway, that one's stupid.'STUPID! Who do you think you are to call me stupid?'
'What?' "Duncy" said, same as his daughter, innocently.
'You know what you did. In your mind you said I was stupid!'
'What's going on in here?' Ugh. Chloe told on me, and now my Mum's coming in.
'He called me stupid!'
'My Father didn't say a word.' Chloe smiled with those blue eyes. I hate those eyes. My Mum turned to me and stared. 'Come in here.' She led me to my room and snatched my diary and threw it on the floor. 'Why did you listen into his mind?'
'Well, Mum. I want Dad back. I hate Chloe, she's a perfect princess and Duncan called me stupid.'
'Well, Alexis. If you weren't using your disability to your advantages you wouldn't have heard him and it wouldn't be a problem!'
'But, Mum?'
'WHAT?'
'It's not a disability. It's a gift. I'm different, I'm special.'
'We all are, hun. Now, you are to stay here until tomorrow morning.'
'What about breakfast, lunch and dinner?'
'I might slip you in a banana or two. But Al, I'm very disappointed in you. What had you had in mind for a plan?'
'I don't want you to get married.'
'Well, darling. Today Duncy is proposing to me and you're going to miss it. In 2 weeks we're being married. It's been decided. You're opinion can't change anything.' 'Now, stay!' My Mum yelled and slammed the door. I cried. I cried like I never had before. I cried because I was getting a new sister, who is perfect and spoilt. And a new Dad, who called me stupid. And now, my Mum loves my soon to be sister better than me, because I have a 'disability' and she is perfect. I decided to talk to Siara. I called her on my iPhone and waited for her to answer.
'Hi Siara.'
'Hey Alexiaaaa, what's wrong?'
'I'm living in the smallest house ever, sharing a room with a perfect new sister, and living with a Dad who called me stupid in his head. My Mum hates me now, too.'
'Your Mum doesn't hate you! She's just in love. And I bet you'll find your new sister loves you too and just wants a friend.'
'Mhm, yeah.'
'I'm not lying! When I got a new Mother it seemed Joe hated me and was perfect. It turned out he loved me and wanted to be my friend, and I loved him so much I was jealous.'
'That's you.'
'Look, I can't fix your problems but you have to have hope, it'll all get better, you'll see.'
'I hope so. Bye.'
'Bye Alexiaaa.'
I didn't know what to do that day. It was so boring. I sat, staring out the window. I wish I could make my Mum love me. She loves that stupid Chloe!
KNOCK KNOCK
'Hey.'
'Go away Chloe.'
'No, I came to see if you're alright.' Then she sat next to me. 'I just want to be your friend you know.'
'Haha, yeah. You told on me.'
'No, actually. I told on my Dad. He's always calling people names.'
I sat, there, blankly. How am I supposed to say it was in his head?
'Don't worry, you don't have to tell me. I already know.'
'Know what?'
'That you have mind control.'
'Oh.. So tell me, what happened before?'
'He called you stupid in his head, and I went and told on him. Your Mum was a bit angry at you for listening, but put you in here because she was actually yelling at him.'
'She.. she was?'
'Yep.'
'Anyway, I said I was coming to get my jacket, so I'd better go, they might think me suspicious.' And Chloe walked pout the door. I guess she's not so bad after all.
