So I was working on this while I was in Australia during summer break. Thought you might like it.

Part 1: True Blood

Chapter 1

“Lin?” I called out to the darkness. I stumbled through the bramble and bracken, searching for my twin sister. I heard a swift figure run across a path in front of me, though they was too fast that they appeared blurry. “Lin! Where are you?” I repeated. I saw someone in a clearing, a girl, about my age. I ran as fast as I could, the ivy and vines tugging at my boots as if they were trying to pull me away. When I got to the clearing, the girl had gone. “Lin!” I cried. Something attacked me and pinned me to the ground. I recognized Lin’s dark hair and fringe. “Lin!” I yelled but it was useless. I felt a agonizing pain in my neck and I suddenly blacked out.

I felt light-headed as I opened my eyes, as if I had lost a large amount of blood and my brain wasn’t coping. Everything was blurry but I heard two people talking. “Lin, did you have to bite your sister?” a voice that sounds like a boy’s said. “I was hungry and was out of food.” a girl that sounded like Lin replied. The boy sighed and asked, “How much did you drink?” “Half of the total amount of blood in her body.” Lin said. “Oh god, what will Finn think?” the boy said, muttering something else. My eyelids felt droopy and I fell asleep a second later.

“Ally!” was the sound I woke up to. Lin was sitting on the bed I was in. A boy and girl was with Lin, the boy has dark hair, black eyes and wore a navy-gray trench coat. The girl has usually bright orange-red hair and the same black eyes as the boy. “You okay?” the girl asked. I nodded, feeling better than before. “Oh, Ally, this is Jack and Catalina.” Lin introduced me to the boy and girl. I nodded and noticed something. My arm was paler, as if my tan had been spray-on (which it wasn’t) and some had washed off. “Ah, she’s noticed.” Jack said. “Lin, we’ll have to tell her now.” Catalina said sadly. “What do you need to tell me?” I asked. They hesitated for a second then Catalina said, “The truth about your sister.”

Chapter 2

“Lin is a vampire. She got hungry so she followed your scent.” Jack explained. “She drank about half your blood before she realized it was you, Ally.” Lin smiled sheepishly at me. I just scowled. Catalina continued, “Your body couldn’t make enough blood in time to survive. We had to replace the lost blood with vampire venom.” I sat back as the words sunk in. “So I’m...” I started. “Half vampire? Yes.” Jack said. “You’re starting to look like a vampire but you’re not a full one yet. After three days at midnight, the venom will ravage your body, turn you into what we call a lone vampire.” he said. “Wait, wait, wait.” I said, sitting up. “Earlier, I heard you and Lin talking. Lin said she had run out of food. Vampires only drink blood.” Jack chuckled. “That’s a common mistakes mortals make. Vampires can drink blood, yes, most lone vampires just drink it. Vampires like Lin, Catalina and I, taken under the trust of the High Council of Vampirism can eat the colour red.” I just stared at Jack. Vampires can’t eat colours. Nobody can, right? Catalina raised an eyebrow at me, “I’ll show you.” She took a apple out of her backpack and sunk one of her fangs into it. I watched as the apple slowly turned from red to pink to gray-white. Catalina took the apple out of her mouth and smiled. “Wanna try?” she asked and tossed me an apple. I held the apple between my teeth and sucked. My mouth filled with the taste of apple juice. I caught a glimpse of the apple’s colour being slowly sucked away. Once the apple flavour disappeared, I took the apple out of my flavour and held it in my hand. It was the same gray-white as Catalina’s. I squeezed it and it crumbled like a soda can. “It tastes like apple!” I exclaimed. Lin, Catalina, Jack and I start laughing.

“So they’ll eventually be black?” I asked Lin. “Yup.” she replied, smiling. My sapphire blue eyes were turning dark blue. I sat on the bed. I was wearing a black wrap-over cardigan over a black top, black leggings and tall black boots. Black, Lin had said, was the standard colour True Bloods wore, though they can wear dark colours as well like Jack’s trench coat. A True Blood was a vampire who could eat red and have had the special chemical removed from the blood that makes lone vampires mindless and blood-hungry at night. If I decided to be a vampire, too, I would be a True Blood. Catalina opened the door. “Ah, you’ve changed. Lin told you about True Bloods?” she asked. I nodded vigorously. Catalina smiled. “Lin, Marceline wanted you.” she said. Lin frowned, a uneasy look in her eyes. She whispered “Bye.” to me and left her bedroom. Catalina shrugged and continued, “She’ll be okay. C’mon, I’ll take you to the Night Star.”
