I just wanted to let everyone know, this is purely fanfiction. Twilight belongs to Stephanie Meyer
and Stephanie Meyer alone. I am writing this fan-fiction because this version is how I would’ve
liked the story to have gone, no offence to the way it was written by the original author, I just prefer

Preface

Life is never what it seems especially when you first discover that someone has fallen in love with you; but it’s complicated when they aren’t technically human. Then bring another two people who aren’t technically human into the fold of people who have fallen in love with you – you won’t be sure what to do. There’s the one who’s your best friend who promises to wait for you, as long as he doesn’t imprint in the meantime. Then you’ve got the one who you are quiet positive is your soul mate, who can’t bare the thought of losing you, the thought of hurting you and they’ll go to any means to protect you.  Then there’s the one who won’t tell you out loud that they love you, the one who sends you notes, the ones whose handwriting you can’t pinpoint and the one who keeps telling you the secret that he loves you is getting harder to keep as everyone around him can read his mind. Every time I read that I see a wolf standing there and I don’t know why. I know it’s a wolf writing these notes to me, just there are too many of them now for me to know which one it is. I also don’t think that I know what the true understanding and concepts of love are anymore because there are three people in love me, and each ones offering me a different kind of love. So I don’t know if I’m in love or that I haven’t found it yet and have no clue what it feels like. But for now I want to go back to where everything began.

1. Beginnings

‘Jake’ I called from the need of repair police cruiser which was parked in front of Jake’s house. The front door swung open and the 11 year old Jake stood there laughing, probably at the fact the cruiser still hadn’t been repaired.  Jacob ‘Jake’ Black is my best friend everything that ever happens to me usually ends up happening to him to. Though in some cases it can be disturbing and upsetting. My mom died in car accident, when she left Dad when I was only a few months old, she’d just brought our first car in Phoenix, Arizona. I survived the crash and that’s the last thing I remember about that day until I was handed back to Dad by the Children’s Services a few weeks later I guess.  The other memory I have of when I was that young was when I met Jake for the first time, I had maybe just turned one when he was born. Like I lost my mom to a car crash, so did Jake. I was 10 and he was 9, he wasn’t himself for months on end. I was of the few people who could get him to come out room, along with our other best friends Embry Call and Quil Ateara V.
‘You here for the reasons I think you are?’ Jake asked as he walked over to the cruiser.
I nodded ‘Its Game time.’
I got out of the cruiser and slammed the cruiser door shut.  No matter what type of game it was, I always ended up here talking the hours away with Jake and occasionally Embry and Quil. I could talk to Jake about anything and just sat there and listened.

La Push was just La Push nothing much ever changed and I liked it that way. Jake and I sat on the edge of the forest, it wasn’t exactly out of the way – we could still be seen from Jakes house – but it was our place, it always had been; well not just ours we shared it with Quil and Embry. The four of us are always there for each other no matter what. Sometimes it was just two of us and sometimes all four but someone was always there for another – it was like an unspoken deal we had going on.
‘Bells you okay?’ Jake asked.
‘Just daydreaming’ I replied.
‘About what?’ he asked.
‘Just thing about everything. The past, present and the future.’
Even if he was only 11 Jake could always think of something to stop me thinking about things that might not even happen. ‘Bells…’ Jake sighed, prying me out the ball I made around myself and pulling me into a hug, ‘Stop thinking about the future it’s not like it’s set in stone, and I know you know that, but you have to stop you obsession with the past and future and focus on the present on what is happening right now.’
Maybe Jake would let me think about the type of person he was going to be in the future. He’d be the type of person who’d always be happy, the one no one could help but become friends with and there is a girl somewhere that would fall in love with him and he’d fall in love with them. Deep down, I wished that, that girl would be me but then I also knew I wouldn’t be me somehow. ‘Maybe your right Jake’ I replied and looked up to see the clouds clearing and we began to experience a rare visit from the sun.
‘I don’t know about you Bella, but I’m going to the beach’ he called back to me already walking in the direction of the beach.
‘Hey Jake! Wait Up, I’m coming…I think some sea air will do me some good’ I called to him, hurrying after him.

The beach was deserted – excepted for me, Jake, Embry and Quil – but Jake predicted that once the Rez and Forks discovered that the sun was out they’d be down here before you could say “Beach.” Quil and Embry who must arrived a long time a long time before us came up to us already soaked through. They were laughing with smiles similar to Jake’s on their faces.
‘Jake! Bella!’ They shouted in unison, walking up the beach now with cheeky smiles on their faces and their eyes focused on Jake who looked like he was going to Bolt if they came any closer to him.
‘Seriously guys I don’t see the point in getting Jake soaked’ I told them.
‘Embry, did I ever day anything about soaking Jake?’ Quil asked him.
‘Not that I can remember and I have a pretty good memory’ Embry answered.
‘Well I know I didn’t…’ Quil began and now I was worried ‘…Jake NOW!’
Jake grabbed my hands and I tried to struggle free and I didn’t like how this was going to end because I did.
‘Seriously, this is stupid’ I protested, but knowing them as well as I did, I knew they wouldn’t listen.

2. What About Me?

I woke up with a seriously sore head and I couldn’t work out why, but once I worked out my surroundings I understood. I’d fallen asleep helping Jake in the garage and I’d been using one of his wrenches as a pillow. I laughed softly as how stupid I’d been to even considering using it as a pillow as I got out of the back seat of Jakes “built from scraps” car, rubbing my head.
‘Jake?’ I asked.
‘Yes Bella-…OUCH!’  Jake replied.
‘Clever Jake, if you hit your head on something again, congratulations’ I smiled as Jake came out from under the car.
‘Yeah thanks Bells, couldn’t you have stayed asleep?’ he asked.
‘I didn’t have the best pillow’ I replied, bending down to hand him his wrench.
‘Not exactly what I meant Bella…never mind’ he answered sitting up on the ground.  Times had definitely changed since the day that Jake, Embry and Quil had forcibly soaked me through and it wasn’t just the times but the four of us personally and the world that we we’re living in.  I am now 16 and they are all 15. Jake was still my best friend and like I’d predicted he’d become that person that was so kind and gentle and easy to like and he’d found the girl who’d never break his heart – me.  Sometimes he wasn’t like that though, now when we ever crossed paths with Same Uley he was always edgy. Jakes theory was that Sam for some odd reason was waiting for the right time to induct him and Quil to his cult. Interestingly Sam only gave Jake and Quil the “death stares” that freaked them out, and not Embry. Embry was thankful for that much, but he’d confided in me that he’d hate to lose Jake and Quil to Sam; I’d promised he wouldn’t lose me whatever happened. Quils theory behind why Sam didn’t give Embry death stares was because he wasn’t a Quileute tribe member, he was Makah.   
‘Any improvement with Sam’ I asked, Jake hesitated before he answered.
‘No, but Jared and Paul are following him around him…Jared missed the end of the school year and Paul was missing for a few days. And when they both reappeared they both started following Sam around like puppies.’ I knew Jared Cameron and Paul Lahote, but I didn’t know them as well as I knew Jake and Quil. I sat down next to him and started into his fear stricken eyes.
‘Jake from now on, if anything happens with Sam you have to tell me. Promise?’
‘I promised Bella, just promise you’ll always be here for me.’
‘I promise Jake, I promise. I have to go its getting dark’ I sighed and yawned.
‘Come on Bella, your half asleep. Call your Dad to pick you up, I’m sure the truck will survive the night’ he joked but he was still serious about me calling Dad.
‘He’s working a night shift; I’m supposed to be at Jessica’s house.’ I yawned again ‘Not that he’d care that I was here.’
‘If I had my P’s, I’d take you there, but I still don’t have them’ he grumbled, walking out the garage door.
‘You only just got your L’s’ I replied getting up after him and heading out of the garage
‘Okay then, if there’s no way of me getting home…I’ll sleep on your couch’ I paused ‘Where is your Dad by the way?’
‘Tribal meeting seems to be there a lot these days’ as he shut the door behind us.
‘Is this because of Same, Jared and Paul?’ I asked
‘What do you think Bella?’
I paused ‘Something wrong…something’s happened, something you’re not telling me? We just promised not to have any secrets.’
‘Sam broke up with Leah, no explanation at all, he just broke up with her’ he replied.
‘So he was more in love with her than anything. Why would he just break up with her without an explanation?’
‘Maybe love doesn’t last forever?’ I answered.
‘You’re probably right.’
‘It’s not your problem anyway Jake, it’s theirs.’
‘You’re definitely right about that.’ That’s when I realised Jake and I had ended up sitting on the couch in his lounge room. Not long after I realised that Jake stood up quickly, like he’d heard something that I hadn’t.
‘What?’ I asked quickly.
‘Your Dads here, I can hear he still hasn’t got the brakes fixed.’
‘You have supersensitive hearing; you know that’s kinda weird.’
‘Can’t help it.’
‘Did he drive right passed us? If he was looking for me he’d come here first.’
‘Well then let’s go find where he’s heading. You don’t look tired anymore?’
‘I don’t feel tired anymore.’

Maybe four months ago Embry and Quil locked Jake and I in the garage since they thought it would be funny; but it back fired on them. Jake asked me out and I said yes, so we’re dating now and when Quil and Embry remember what happened in there they look like they’re never going to forgive themselves for doing it.
‘Jake, you know how you agreed with me before that love doesn’t always last forever. Did that include us?’
‘No not us, I’m always going to love you Bella, always.’
‘Have Embry and Quil forgiven themselves yet?’
‘Embry has…I think. Quil hasn’t he really, really likes you’ Jake laughed.
‘Well I like you’ I replied and I kissed his cheek.
As we walked we approached the Clearwater’s house where the Police cruiser was parked out the front of the house.  When we got closer we found Seth sitting outside his hands over his ears as he was trying to block out the shouting coming from the house.
‘My Dad went into that?’ I asked Seth.
‘Someone called the police on them’ Seth answered.
‘Oh Great’ I muttered.
‘We’re you sent out?’ Jake asked.
‘I wasn’t even supposed to be at home, I was supposed to be as school studying…not that I would’ve gone anyway,’ he smiled, Seth could’ve been Jake’s brother they both had that innocent smile and that loving nature and really Seth just looked like Jake just two years younger.
‘How long have you been outside?’ I asked.
‘About an hour, don’t ask me what they’ve been yelling out because it hasn’t made any sense to me at all…I mean who starts yelling about tribe legends like they are real.’
I looked at Jake concerned.
‘There not real Bella, it’s okay…’

3. They All Were

‘SERIOULSY JACOB, JUST LEAVE HIM! Once I thought you hated him!’ I shouted at Jake.
‘Once Bella, once I hated him, but now he’s helping me and I couldn’t be more grateful’ he paused ‘And I don’t see why you care about me all of a sudden, y-you…’ he trailed off.
‘Jake I do care about you, it’s just…it is…’
‘He left you Bella, he left you…can’t you get that around your head. I’ve been there for you enough and you just keep hurting me…I can’t do this anymore Bells.’
‘Ru-run-runway with me.’
‘Once upon a time I would’ve’ he replied he turned away from me and headed off through the rain into the forest where they were waiting for him.
Only a year and a half had passed since I’d meet Edward Cullen and in that time I knew I’d found me soul mate and then he just left  and I spent months just waiting for him to come back to me, but he didn’t. Edward isn’t human, far from it he is a vampire a vegetarian vampire; he drinks animal blood not human blood. Then I found myself again when I started hanging around with Jake again; he’d forgiven me for breaking his heart for Edward, but this time Quil and Embry’s jokes had gone too far…well they had. Embry was with Sam as well now – and the promise we made seems less real everyday – which has left me and Quil in the dark and I know he hates it as much as I do, but at least he has a slight chance of eventually finding out what’s happening and when that day comes – if it does – I won’t have anyone.
‘That’s it’ I said to myself.
I turned around and got in my truck and began to head home.

When I got home, I called Billy and told him to tell Jake to call something or I’d do something -of which I wasn’t so clear of – and I made it quite clear.
 I was lying in bed that night when I heard rocks scattering against as they hit the window and I looked out and saw Jake standing there. I opened the window.
‘What do you want hmm?’ I asked.
‘To talk to you…move back I’m coming up.’
I didn’t understand what he meant but I stepped back from the window and a few seconds later he came through the window acting like he hadn’t just preformed a feat I’d only ever seen a vampire do. As he came in a gust of cold wind came in with him and hit me like it was ice, but Jake just acted like it wasn’t there as well. He came over to me and gave me a hug.
‘You okay Jake, you feel like you’ve got a fever?’
‘I’m fine Bells, it’s just…’
‘A Jake thing?’ I suggested.
‘A Jake thing’ he agreed.
‘Do you remember that promise we made that you would tell me if you ever found out what ever was going on with Sam?’ I asked.
‘I remember Bella, but we made two you weren’t there for me when I needed you.’
‘Jake I…’ I trailed off trying to avoid the argument we’d had earlier that day.
‘Leave it Bella, I can’t tell you…I’m sorry’ that was the last thing he said before he jumped back out the window and run off.  As I slept my nightmares returned, each one of Jake dying and I was scared; I needed to know what was wrong with him, even if it wasn’t him who told me.
The cornflakes swirled around at the bottom of the bowl, reminding me of the sunny days, I’d spent at the beach with Jake, Embry and Quil when we had been kids and nothing else had mattered.
‘Dad, I’m going to see Jake’ I announced.
‘Be careful of Sam Uley…he might have rescued you but there’s something wrong with that kid’ Dad replied. I thought best not to tell him that Jake was now involved with whatever cult Sam had going.
The roads heading towards the reservation were wet and slippery this morning, and usually I would’ve cared, but not this morning. All I cared about this morning was finding out the truth about what had happened to Jake.
 I halted the truck to quickly outside of Jake house that I went forward in my seat a little bit more that I would’ve liked, but it didn’t matter. I got out of the car and rushed towards the house and started slamming the door and yelling demands of entry. Eventually Billy opened the door.
‘Bella he’s not here’ Billy told me.
‘Let me be the judge of that’ I replied and barged past him and headed towards Jake’s room only to find him still asleep his large body – so uncommon for his age – too big for his bed.  I wanted answers but I didn’t want to wake Jake and even if I woke him he wouldn’t tell me. Then through Jake’s window I saw the figures of four men coming out of the first and heading towards the house; I knew exactly who they were even it was from a distance and I even though I hadn’t seen them for months or even over a year – it was Sam, Jared, Paul and Embry. I left Jakes room, thinking maybe I should slam his door, but that would wake him and he would try to convince me to not do what I was about to do. I let myself out the back door and stormed across the field towards the men heading towards the house. As I got closer, the questions began to burn for answers and they had the answers, but how willing would they be to tell me?
 ‘LEAVE JAKE ALONE OKAY, HE DOSEN’T WANT TO BE PART OF WHATEVER CULT YOU’VE GOT GOING!’ I yelled
‘He might be, but he’s stuck as it, with it, we ALL ARE!’ Paul yelled and started shaking like he couldn’t keep his form solid and then he was ripping out of his skin and then he wasn’t there but a huge grey wolf was and he was snarling and snapping at me. Then I heard Jake yell at me.
‘BELLA RUN! NOW!’
I backed away first then I bolted back towards the house while Jake ran in the direction of the wolf and then he jumped just as I fell over and changed into a wolf. Then it made sense, I mean I didn’t want it to be, but it was clear they could all turn into wolves.  Jake and Paul were attacking each other like they wanted each other dead.  Sam, Jared and Embry were watching them hesitantly then Sam took control of what was going on as the two wolves rolled into the forest.
‘Take her to Emily’s!’ he shouted at Jared and Embry.
‘Looks like the wolfs out of the bag’ Embry laughed, the laugh I’d once thought I’d never hear again.
They nodded then Embry turned and began to walk over to me, but then he stopped and picked up a piece of a sneaker.
‘I think Jake’s going to be going bare foot for a while, Billy said that was the last pair he could afford for a while.’
‘Why do you think I’ve gone bare foot nearly the entire time?’ Jared asked Embry.
Embry laughed, as he helped me up…something seemed off about him as he helped me up like the whole world had just changed, but even he was a wolf that was impossible…or was it he can turn into a wolf for God’s sake.
‘I’ll drive’ I said feeling sick.
‘Um I’ll drive’ Jared replied. ‘You just took in a lot, that and you look really sick.’
I didn’t argue and handed over the keys to the truck.
 We drove to Emily’s in silence, the entire time I tried to remember who Emily was…Jake had brought her up before, but I still couldn’t remember. When we got to Emily’s, Embry stopped me before I went inside.
‘Don’t stare, it bugs Sam.’
‘What?’
‘I can’t explain’ he replied.
When I went inside I understood what he meant; Emily she must have been unbelievably beautiful once but now her face was covered with scars down one side…like a mauling…Sam had done it and she stayed with him…now that didn’t make sense. I looked away quickly and remembered who she was she was Seth and Leah’s cousin.
‘So you’re the vampire girl?’ she asked as she set some muffins down on the table for Embry and Jared.
I nodded ‘You’re the wolf girl?’
‘I guess’ she paused and looked at Embry and Jared annoyed, ‘Save some for your brothers.’ They both put down the muffins they were holding.
‘So your wolves?’ I asked
‘That’s not the best thing; we can hear each other’s thoughts’ Embry smiled.
‘You’re giving away trade secrets,  ! This chick runs with Vampires’ Jared replied annoyed.
‘You can’t run with Vampires there fast’ I said assure of myself finally.
‘Guess what, we’re faster’ Jared answered; as he looked over at the door I turned my head to see Sam and Paul entering the house.
‘Sorry Bella’ Paul said as he sat down at the table with and biting into a muffin.  I watched Sam with Emily and he acted like she was the most perfect person in the world even with the scars.
I looked back to see Jake leaning against the door, he becokened me out.
We walked towards the beach in silence.
‘Mono?’ I asked.
‘I wish, sorry I lied, it’s supposed to be a secret for pack member and elders only.’
‘Emily seems to know?’
‘Well…we can imprint?’
‘Imprint?’ I questioned.
‘It’s like when you see her, gravity doesn’t hold you here anymore…she does. You will do and be anything for her; a brother, friend, protector, love…whatever she needs you to be.’
‘Have you?’
‘You’d know if I had, trust me.’
‘Is this why Sam and Leah broke up?’
He nodded ‘He saw Emily, and he couldn’t keep hurting himself and Leah, when he loved Emily. So he broke up with her, Leah’s never really understood and sadly she never will. Sam still feels terrible about it, he’d be willing to throw himself under a bus to prove it to her…but he can’t hurt Emily either.’

4. Note after Note

‘Edward just shut up’ I said softly.
He didn’t reply he just looked at me and smiled with that crooked smiles I loved so much and I had to forgive him.
‘You’re forgiven just let me keep the notes okay?’
‘Okay you can keep them, just tell me you love me more than the person writing these notes’ he replied.
‘You know my answer, of course I love you more’ I smiled over at him.
He didn’t reply he just kept looking at the table. I could feel my temperature rising like I was in an oven.
I woke with a start and everything flooded back to me and I understood why I felt so hot, but I had to admit Jake has just saved me from hypothermia.
‘Edward’ I whispered.
‘Bella’ he answered his velvet voice extremely soft.
‘Get me out of here’ I replied. He did hesitate and unzipped the sleeping bag and Jake rolled out with a loud thud onto the ground.
‘Hey, what was that for?’ Jake asked grumpily.
I just looked at him and he sighed and smiled. ‘Just warn me next time’ he paused he knew there may never be a next time ‘Seth’s coming, I’ve got to go.’
As I watched him run off Edward turned to me and asked me a question he’d been asking me a lot lately again.
‘Marry me Bella?’
This time I was ready to say yes, I nodded happily ‘Yes, yes.’ Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jake storm off, ‘You knew he was listening, h-how could you!’ I complained and I ran after Jake.
‘JAKE WAIT!’ I shouted.
‘I’ve waited long enough, you’ve made up my mind…not much more I can do’ he stopped and replied, but he didn’t face me.
I stopped walking and stood there watching him, I took a deep breath.
‘Kiss me, Jake kiss me.’
He hesitated but came back and he kissed me at first I tried to ignore him, but I found myself sinking into the kiss and pulling Jake closer, twisting my fingers into his hair. His hands rested on my sides, holding me there. When the kiss ended, Jake paused and tried to come to terms with what had just happened, as was I.
‘That should’ve been our first kiss. Better late than never,’ he hesitated ‘I’m going to come back.’ He pulled himself away from slowly and regretfully and ran off again.
‘You love him don’t you?’ Edward asked from behind me.
‘I, I don’t know…maybe, I don’t know’ I answered.

I wanted Jake and Edward to be the ones staying here and protecting me not Seth and Edward, but I didn’t want to deprive Jake of the chance to fight and kill the newborns – I knew how badly he wanted to, but that didn’t make me feel any less scared that I could lose him forever, one bite and he was gone for good. It wasn’t just him it was Quil and Embry as well and the wolf that was sending me those notes. In my dream it looked like I’d told Edward I was getting notes from a wolf, but in the real world there was no way on earth that I was going to tell him; he’d start again on the topic of me having a full and happy normal human life, with the wolf.  That’s how I felt about the topic of the notes around half the time, the other half all I wanted was the notes, the notes were all about love, secrets and longing. I wanted to meet the wolf writing these notes to me, just to know who had, had no choice but to give me his heart. There wasn’t a day that I didn’t get a note from him and there wasn’t a moment that I didn’t once think I didn’t want to receive anymore. Then it struck me, he was out there today fighting foe me; not just to keep me safe, but also that he could tell me how he felt about me. But then I had the problem that I still loved Jake, even after all this time – our kiss had proved that to me. And I loved Edward. Seth’s howling brought me back to the real world this time. The battle had begun.
I stood just behind Edward in silence for the next few minutes as he told me what was happening at the battle, through reading Seth’s thoughts. Then Seth turned quickly like he could hear something that we didn’t, he lunged forward and attacked Riley Biers…at least I think it was him, he’d been missing for almost a year and how here he was, but it was clear that he was now a vampire. As Seth tumbled with Riley, I saw Victoria came at us a joyous look in her eyes like she was ready to end Edward and myself for ever. Edward got in front of her and pushed her back a few hundred meters but she came charging at us again. I heard a crack and a whimper and Seth was laying on the ground in severe pain, Edward couldn’t take on both these vampires by himself, I had to distract them somehow. Then I remembered what the third wife – the imprintee – had done, she’d sacrificed herself to save her tribe. I hesitated for about a second but I picked a sharp rock up off the ground and cut my arm the smell of my blood distracted them enough for Edward to get his footing back and Seth was back and he lunged and took down Riley, while Edward decapitated Victoria.
Once they had killed them Edward threw every single piece of Riley and Victoria onto a pile and set them alight. Even as the fire burned Seth looked for missing pieces because even one piece would mean that they could reform. I was starting to think that everything was finally okay but then Seth sunk to the ground again in obvious agony – his head between his paws whimpering and howling as he tried to escape what was hurting him.
‘Seth go to the reservation and tell them what’s happened’ Edward told him calmly.
Seth would’ve listened without a doubt, but whatever had happened was taunting him , eventually he pulled himself together gave us a sorry look and darted off into the forest.
‘What’s wrong, what’s happened?’ I asked worried.
‘…A new born hid himself and then attacked Leah found him and…’ he trailed off.
‘Is she okay? Is that what Seth was upset about, she’s his sister?’ I asked highly concerned.
‘Leah’s fine…it’s Jake he broke – well the newborn broke – all the bones on the right side of his body.
Shock hit me like a gust of wind.

5. Help Me Start My Life With You
The Volturi knowing I was still human would have been the only thing scaring me right now, if that blasted newborn hadn’t hurt Jake as badly as it presumably did – I still hadn’t seen Jake and was feeling sick with worry.
I finally got to see him, he seemed weak…he didn’t seem like himself.  Jake had been my best friend my entire life and seeing him like that made me feel as sick as he looked, he’d always been so strong, relentless and just Jake, but right now that Jake didn’t exist a sick scared version of him did. I’d gone into see him with the intention of telling him I was going through with the engagement with Edward no matter his opinion and I also wanted to ask if he had any clue who was writing me the notes – This was my last chance to find out before Alice went ballistic with wedding preparations. I ended up only saying half of what I’d wanted to say, I understood by just seeing him that he wouldn’t be able to take it if I even mentioned the notes and my suspicions of it being a wolf.
‘Bella, I don’t care that I never imprinted on you. I’ll be here waiting a second option.’
‘Till my heart stops beating’ I answered.
‘Maybe even after that,’ his reply shocked me.
‘Jake, she’s out there don’t give up on her’ I begged him.
‘I haven’t, but she’s given up on finding me’ he said sadly.
‘Don’t say that Jake!’ I said annoyed with him and in some ways myself.
‘It’s the truth Bells’ he said weakly.
I didn’t know what to say next but what came out of my mouth next was something I regretted straight away, ‘I’m never going to forget you.’
Jakes answer to my idiotic words was something I should’ve guessed he might have said, ‘Bella, I won’t let you, I’ll tag along with you and them if I have to.’
‘That’s fine by me, but you’ll have to start calling them either Vampires or by their names.’
‘Can you make an exception for Blondie?’
‘No’ I said firmly, then spoke again ‘I’m going to go home, you need some sleep I’ll come see you again tomorrow.’
‘Night Bella.’
‘Night Jake.’

When I got outside it was freezing the pack wasn’t there Sam must have sent them home. I walked to my truck around a hundred meters away and when I got there, I heard my name called from behind me. When I turned around I saw Embry, he smiled at me – that cheeky smile I’d always adored.
‘I’ve missed you’ I told him.
‘I’ve missed you to Bella’ he replied pulling me into a hug, he was just as warm as Jake but I should’ve have expected that he was a wolf after all.
‘I thought you would’ve gone home to bed, it’s been a long day?’ I asked, pulling away
‘Speak for yourself Bella. I couldn’t go to bed until I’d given you this; I owe you one for today.’
‘Owe me what?’ I asked curiously.
He dug his hand into his shorts pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper, I took it hesitantly and read it.

^{I love you Bella, I imprinted on you, I’m watching you reading this you know I am I just gave it to you. I know you’ve been wondering and here’s you answer, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you straight away.
You were happy and if you were happy, so was I but I still couldn’t deny to myself that I loved you though. I have no idea what you’re going to do now, but I know you’ll make the right decision. Embry.}

‘You don’t write you’re a’s the same way anymore’ I replied softly.
‘Don’t I?’
‘No, you don’t’ I said annoyed.
‘Anything else’ he asked sounding cautious.
‘Is this true, has it been you all these months?’ I asked looking up at him.
‘Yeah, it’s been me.’
‘Why didn’t you tell me, I know you must of wanted to?’
‘Like I said you were happy, I loved you enough not to want to ruin it.’
‘I’m happy now, why ruin it now?’
‘Because I know you’re not, it’s been written all over your face all day.’
‘You’ve been checking on me through Seth’s eyes and y-you saw what Jake and I did…he wouldn’t have forgotten that, that quickly.’
‘Oh trust me he didn’t.’
‘How’d you keep it from the pack, from Edward?’
‘With great difficulty, I had to forget that it had ever happened that was the hardest part. But when I was alone you’d be the only person I’d think about.’
‘I’ve always trusted you, sometimes I fear more than Jake…now I think I understand why, I mean you and Jake both understood as well as each other, but you always seemed one step ahead of him half the time…’
‘I was made for you Bella, and watching you now you’re starting to see that to.’
I tried not to admit it to myself but he was right, he was dead right…if I wanted to continue down the path he was edging me onto he’d be the perfect one to guide me to love me to keep me safe to help me, or I could stay on the path I was on and lose him for good.
‘Y-You were made for me’ I said in barely a whisper. I looked into his brown eyes they were telling me exactly what I was thinking “It’s always been him” “It’s always been Embry” “He was the one.”
As I watched his eyes the piece of paper fluttered out of my hand and I took a hesitant step closer to him – so close that if I even moved an inch we’d kiss – unsure of what I was going to do now.
‘Now what Bella?’
In all my confusion, I found his hands and laced my fingers into his. He pulled his hands away suddenly and moved them onto my hips…he wanted what I wanted to give him oh so badly, but if I gave him even one I’d wouldn’t be able to look at Edward or Jake the same again – did I really want to do that?
 I pushed away whatever was holding me back and put my arms around his neck and kissed him. The kiss was so powerful. Heat and warmth and love flooded through me, like I’d never been kissed before and finally I think I was starting to understand what love meant. It meant that the two halves of the relationship, would hold back their craving for the other,  until the other half was ready and here with Embry I knew he was my other half, the one I’d been searching for, for so so long. He’d been waiting patiently for me to work out he was the one and become his other half. One of his hands wound its way up my side and his fingers twisted gently into my hair and I kept on kissing him not wanting to lose this moment, this warmth or him. It was him who pulled away, but then he cupped my face with his hand and gave me one more short sweet kiss.
‘Are you ready?’ I asked him as he held me against his chest in his arms.
‘For what?’ he asked.
‘To help me start my life with you.’
‘I’ve always been ready Bella, and I always will be.’
A yawn caught me before I got the chance to reply.
‘Come on let’s get you home to bed’ he said.
   I climbed into the truck and snuggled into Embry’s side he put his arm around me as he started the truck.
‘He’s never going to talk to you again, you must know that?’ I asked him.
‘I know he’s my best friend and he’s yours but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it, for now he’s stuck in bed indefinitely.’
‘What about the Volturi, you must know they won’t me to become a vampire?’
‘I know, but we have the entire tribe behind us now we have a chance.’
‘That’s the problem it’s not a definite chance.’
‘He wants you to have a normal human life right?’
‘Right’ I knew he was talking about Edward, ‘What’s your point?’
‘Maybe the Cullen’s will back us up.’
‘That’s a huge ask’ I mumbled feeling sleep pulling me closer and eventually it must of consumed me. I woke up when the truck stopped. One door opened and closed, then the other opened and I felt Embry pull me into his arms and carry me inside. What felt like only seconds later I felt my bed under me.
‘I can’t stay Bella, I can’t protect you here, it’s their turf not ours. If I change the treaty breaks’
‘Stay’ I mumbled, ‘please, he’ll read your mind and he’ll see what’s going on.’
‘I could risk that, but not Sam.’
‘He’d understand to once he saw your mind as well’ I mumbled again.
There wasn’t a reply, but I felt him climb into bed next to me and pulled me into his arms and I snuggled into his arms again, it felt so natural with him. He kissed my shoulder as I felt sleep take me away again.
I woke when I heard the front door slam closed. I felt Embry’s warmth against me and the events of the night before came back to me. That I’d chosen to love Embry in the entire mess of the supernatural world I was living in. Embry’s arm was still holding me close to him, but not as close as I would’ve like.
‘Good morning,’ I whispered.
‘Well, well sleeping beauty awakes’ it wasn’t his voice that answered, but I knew he was awake because the closeness I’d wanted he gave me the moment Edward had spoken.
‘Leave, now’ Embry advised.
‘That is not going to happen till I find out what you’re doing in my fiancée bed?’
‘I don’t need to say why, I know you already know quite well why I am’ Embry argued, ‘And we both know that by reading my thoughts you know she asked me to stay and that she was the one who kissed me not the other way round.’
‘But you knew she was engaged!’
‘So did she, but I’m still right here and your still there. I somehow think you two aren’t engaged anymore, by that’s just a very good guess.’
Edward’s next question was directed at me ‘Is that true are we not engaged anymore?’
‘No’ I replied.
‘I see. Well…never mind.’ I felt a rush of wind and I knew he was gone.
I opened my eyes and sat up as Embry laid back down. He twisted around a little and rested his head on my lap and I looked into his eyes.
‘Now what?’ I asked.
‘We tell the pack.’
‘No I think we tell Charlie first, does he even know you stayed all night?’
‘No, he left in a hurry he must have forgotten to check.’
‘He forgot to check on me, he’s never forgotten to check on me.’
