My life doesn’t seem normal anymore. Why did it have to change? I am not a normal teenager with best friends who has bad hair days and times when the only clothing she can wear are ones that are too small because the clothes that fit are in the wash. Ever since I moved into the castle I have been taking classes there, my ‘friends’ are getting paid to hang around with me and I don’t have to worry about how I look. Sometimes I miss my old life where my best friend, Olivia, and I walk to school and get a burger or some chips after school because we are hungry even though we had lunch in the school cafeteria only a couple of hours before. Or when I am in trouble Olivia would come over and help me through it, when we had awesome sleepovers on the weekend where we had food fights and stayed up really late. When I didn’t have to worry about what I wore or ate because nobody looked up to me. I was free back then; I ignored the people who would put me down, not caring at all what they said because I was me. Now I have all these people around me who do my chores, serve and make me food, buy clothing for me and do my hair and make-up, the things that I never had to worry about because I did it myself or I couldn’t care less. Even though I miss going to school at Blackburn High, sometimes I think that this life is better. I always have new and fresh clothing to wear, don’t have to put up with rude people especially boys and distractions. But being here, it gets lonely. No friends because I live too far away from Blackburn for Olivia to come every day or even the weekends, too far away for any one my age to come and visit or play. Those girls who get paid to be my friends are nice but they are not the same as me and especially not Olivia, I never know what to say or how to act around them so I just stay still and they don’t notice me.
