Chapter 1
'Rainy Day'
I looked out of my bedroom window situated in a large house in the middle of Melbourne. The rain was pelting down against the front lawn. I looked out into the street and watched as it started to flood the road. I smiled. This was going to be good for the farms around Melbourne. It was the firsxt day of the school holidays and i was keen to get to my friends house. He lived across the street from me. It was going to be hard seeing thoguh the road was now all water. I hoped the rain would stop soon but the weather reporter said it wouldn't. My little sister, who was 10, 4 years younger then me, was at my grandmas house in a place called Yarram. I'd been there a few tyimes, but i didn't like it much so i decided to stay at home for the week she was away. My Dad was over seas on a business trip and mum was downstairs making lunch. i hurried downstairs and walked into the kitchen. It was quite modern and futeristic. My family is rich and happy. Well, mostly, I hate not having dad around, it was fun before he was promoted. We were able to have fun and play games in the backyard. Not anymore. I sat at the table as mum dished out some nice cheesy pasta. There was a knock on the door. I raced to it and opened it. It was my friend, Max. "Hey Zack" he said to me happily walkign in and taking his shoes off. He was wearing his favourite green t-shirt and shorts. I was wearing a black hoodie and black shorts with sneakers. "I was just about to have lunch" i said walkign to the table. "Do you want some?" i asked. "Sure" he said sitting at the table. Mum didn't argue, she always made too much and would give it to him. He would eat anything. he looked out of the window. "You wouldn't beleive how i got across the road" he said. I was wondering how he did it becuase he wasn't wet. He explaine dto me that it was deep enough to row his inflatable baby pool over. Well it was his little brothers really. I looked outside and saw something floating in the road. I smiled. "You mean that inflatable pool thats drifting away on the current?" i laughed. he screamed and ran outside. Mum was laughing her head off, as was i. He came back in unhappily. "Now how am i going to get across?" he asked me retorically. I smiled. "you're going to have to walk across" i exclamed. He sighed. "I'd go now before the water gets any higher" said mum as the water began to seep over the gutter and onto the foot path. He left soon-after. I watched him through my bedroom window runnign across the road and falling down in the middle. I luaghed at him loudly. he looked at me and poked his tounge out. I waved to him and shut my window. I sat on my bed and opened a book. it was called -History Of Everything, VOL 1- I read it until i slowly started to drift off. The warm fire downstairs warmed the whole house. As i slowly went to sleep i listened to the nice pitta patta of the rain.

Chapter 2
'Help'

I awoke to sirens on the street. It was dark as i looked outside. I saw the sirens. It looked like one weird police car in the dark. As i passed a street light i realised something, half the street life was gone and that it was water police, now a police car. I paniced and ran downstairs. The water was chest deep. It was 9 O'clock at night or at least thats what the clock said. "Mum" i screamed. I heard a yell from the living room. I swam there quickly. I cut my knee on a floating knife. It didn't hurt but blood floated through the water quickly. So quick before i came into the room mum screamed in panic. I calmed her and said i only cut my knee a bit. When i found her she was floating on a matress. "I went to sleep and when i woke up i was floating here" she said quickly paddleing towards me. I climbed onto it hoping it didn't sink under my weight. By blonde hair was soaked. Mums blonde hair was dry. I guessed she hadn't been in the water yet. "We have to get outta here" i said noticing that the water was getting evan higher. Then, The power went out. "We floated into the kitchen. I grabbed my school bag which was floating by and filled it with food. As we floated aroudn the house we grabbed what ever could of helped us. We got dry blankets and pillows. I was terrified by this point. Where was my pet cat and dog! My cat, Maria, Was all white and slightly fluffy. My dog, Sox, Was a long haired border collie. I heard a yelp on the stair case. Now we were only just managing to squeeze throguh door ways. We got to the stair case, and there, was Sox and Maria Soaking wet. We grabbed them and loaded them on and headed for a large sliding screen door. "I'm going to have to go under!" i said to mum nervesly. I dived in without a second thought. The house looked a lot different under water. It looked eerie and strange. I tried to pull the door open. I couldn't I went up for a breath of air. Mums head was knocking against the ceiling. I dived back under and tried to open it again. It slowly slid open. The matress floated out. I swam after it. As i got on i looked around. The street was all dark and empty, except for some street lights. The rain had stopped by now. "This couldn't of possibly been the rain" said mum. I looked around at floating debree. "probably not" i said. "It could of been that new damn they were building" i exclaimed trying not to cry. I shivered. "The dam could of broke and made all of its water rush through melbourne. The dam was a huge dam that was on the out skirts of melbourne. It was as big as 5 suburbs and carried all of Melbournes water, It was having repairs down and it could of burst open and flooded the city. "Well" said mum sadly. "Lets just hope we don't die..." i smiled "We're not gonig to die mum" i said. As i said this a huge wave rolled past us and took out a telephone pole. I gulped as another one came and just hit the side of our matress. Sox yelped in fear. I held him and patted him tightly. "Its okay boy" i said holdign hugging him.

-Chapter 3-
'The Waves'

As we floated through the lonely streets of Mellbourne we saw a few more lgihts around houses. We rowed with two pieces of wood that we found drifting along in the current. Mum had a wireless radio that we had gotten. We were getting no signal with it. I tried to have a go. Got a bit of static and then got successful with an emergancy channel saying to find higher ground. I listened closly. "Melbourne and outter suburbs have been flooded when the Mustaki Dam burst open today. Recuers are not sure if there are and dead people. If you are in a flooded area please get to hig ground. There are many refuges around the city of Melbourne that can be found easily." we listened as they read out a list of all the refuges we could get to. The closest to us was a few kilometers away. We thought it was better if we awaited rescue. "Please be aware that many people have reported freak waves taking out everything form trees to lamp posts and to try get to refuges ASAP" then we saw them. Giant watery mountains flowing towards us quickly. "ROW!" mum screamed in panic as we rowed towards the nearest house. We glided over a huge wave and landed on another. We were thrust around until... "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" i flew throguh the air and landed in the water. The waves had stopped but the current was still strong. I managed to reach the matress and climb on. I looked over the side at what i thought was a log. I chocked. It was a body. A body of a person.
