I stood there, what if there were other vampires... The same shiver ran down my spine, not because it was cold. Part of me wanted to run and scream to my father and curl up into his arms, which impossible because of what I’ve become, the other part of me wanted to die, just lie down and die. This was also impossible.
I yelled into the night sky, I was sure they heard me because I heard there footsteps. The tree closest to me would have to do, I climbed up it before they came, they were carrying flashlights and shotguns. They were yelling at each other. It isn’t safe to walk in a group, someone could easily slip away. I thought they’d learn that by now. I smirked, they were walking slowly, and some of them looked just under 19. They were looking in all the trees shining there flashlights everywhere they looked. “Over there!” a young boy pointed out, he was staring at me; I guess that was my cue to leave. Some of the men pointed their guns at me; others were prepared to run, just in case things went bad. “Isn’t that Heidi” they were murmuring, my father wasn’t with them that time, a low growl escaped my lips. In an instant I was of, they were running after me, well a few of them, the rest stayed behind, their footsteps were loud and noisy, I jumped from tree to tree. “Heidi!” a few were shouting, “come back!” their voices were getting distant. I didn’t stop, not until I was sure...

“BOOM!” the thunder roared to life, the hale hit me on the head, I remembered when I was still human how I would hide under my bed whenever there was thunder, now, it didn’t seem right. It was late at night, yet I didn’t feel tired, I always thought vampires slept in coffins, but I was wrong with the sunlight. My dress was drenched with water; I sat on the forest floor, sobbing tearless cries.
I felt like crawling into a howl and never coming out... my life new life was just beginning, and yet, I wanted it to end so badly. I picked myself up, the rain still pouring heavily. My bones were weak, forcing me to the ground; I wasn’t tired, just weak... I fell back to the ground, my face hitting the wet dirt. My eyes squeezed shut, I felt human again for that short moment... I didn’t know how long I laws lying there for but something startled me... “Is she... alive?” a soft silky but deep voice asked someone, I could hear their even breathing patterns. The voice, reminded me of my own... my own voice... they didn’t smell tempting. “Well she’s breathing, so I suppose she’s alive” a softer voice replied. “She’s one of us” the deep voice stated. My eyes flicked open to see two pale vampires leaning over my body...

“Sweetie, are you okay?” the softer voice asked, I couldn’t make out the faces but one was male and the other was female, the softer voice the was female. I stood up, taking a step back from the vampires. “Who are you?” I tried to stay calm, but it was hard not to. “I’m Elizabeth and this is William” she pointed to the man on the right as she said his name. Their eyes were red, like mine.
“Your eyes are black” the man grumbled, “and I’m guessing you’re a newborn” he pointed out. “A what?” I was confused. “A newborn is a newly transformed vampire” Elizabeth explained, “How many people have you killed?” she slowly asked, “two” I replied quietly, staring at the ground. “Hm, when I was a newborn, I killed like twenty people in the first few hours” William continued to grumble. Elizabeth glared at William, she then turned to look at me “How old are you?” she asked sweetly, “Um, I think, 6 or 5 hours” I said truthfully. Elizabeth looked annoyed, her eyebrows scrunched up together, thinking “You were left here alone” it wasn’t a question, she knew it... “We’ll take care of you” as she said that, William just about choked, she punched him on the arm playfully. “How old are you guys” I heard myself ask, “Well, in vampire years, I’m 132” William said proudly, with his chest puffed out. “I’m 98” Elizabeth said with a small smile. “William changed me, he was lonely” she smirked at William. In human years William and Elizabeth were defiantly older than me. Elizabeth looked around 25 and William looked 26ish. “Well, now we are a family” Elizabeth smiled at my words, “I’ve always wanted a proper family” Elizabeth sighed, “What happened to them” her eyes looked pained, “It was ninety eight years ago” she began, “That’s your vampire age” I pointed out, she nodded slowly, “after I was changed, I didn’t listen to William, I wanted to go back to my family, but the smell was over powering, and I was just a newborn...” she drifted off. There was a small awkward silence, “so, why were you on the ground” William said to break the silence...

“Um, I was chased by hunters” I said sheepishly, Elizabeth seemed to laugh, “that was probably William’s fault, he killed one of them” she laughed. William chuckled. They seemed so in love, the way their hands held each other, as if one move would break their hold. “So, what are you guys doing out here?” I seemed intruding on their personal life, but this was the first time in my new life that people, well vampires have actually stoped to check to see if I was okay. “Well, were going to the Volturi” Elizabeth stared at William lovingly, “Never heard of them”. “They’re sort of like, vampire royalty, you can join them, or you can go to them to die. They normally prefer people with gifts, so, were going there, you can come, if you want” Elizabeth gave me the option, I’ve just made a new family, I wasn’t about to let it go. “What are gifts?” I seemed like a little kid, asking allot of questions, but there was just so much to learn about in my new life. “Some vampires have gifts, like me, once I smell something, I can track it down in less than a day” William went all proud again, “Elizabeth doesn’t really have a gift, but she can accept people for who they are, like you” William pointed to me. Elizabeth smiled and hugged me. “Do I have a gift?” it was all very interesting, “Maybe” William smiled; at least he wasn’t grumbling anymore. “Before we go, you really need something to drink” Elizabeth sounded like my mother. We jumped through the trees; we were trying to keep a low profile. The sun was rising quickly, the hunters would be looking for us soon...
