Lucy hated water. She hadn't touched any since her brother nearly drowned the year before. That was before she discovered a secret that would change her life forever... It all started on an average summer's day when her brother James did something he knew would annoy Lucy.
"Mum?"
"Yes?"
"Can we go to Canary Beach, because I'm sick of the one down the road!"
"No! You know I hate water!" protested Lucy.
"Lucy, what've I told you?" asked Mum. This was a conversation they had had a numerous amount of times.
"Not to answer things like that without asking you."
"Good. Now let's go!" The family packed for the beach.
Lucy and James where having a sand fight. Lucy was getting sick of it.
"James, can we stop now?" whined Lucy.
"Yeah, whatever." James picked up Lucy and dropped her in the ocean.
"Hey!" Lucy yelled. She had never learned how to swim. The water got deeper and the world around Lucy changed. She ducked her head under the water. This was getting weird. Then she noticed only one of her legs was there. Had she been eaten by a shark? Then she noticed her leg was actually a shining purple mermaid's tail!!! Sharks swarmed around beneath her.She dived down into a coral reef and lay down on a shark's back.
In the morning she woke quite surprised to find herself inside a giant orange anenome. Three shells sat next to her. One was a huge clam. One was a conk shell. The last one was a large oyster. Lucy spotted a seahorse swimming around. She looked up and noticed her mum swimming inside the anenome.
"Mum!" she cried.
"Lucy,don't leave the anenome. Your brother is out there."
